When my professor offered the opportunity to intern at the Richmond Chapter of the American Red Cross this semester, I jumped at the chance for the experience. My law school does not offer an in depth course on IHL, and I wanted to learn more about this area of law especially in a real world setting. I have always been interested in international law and international relations, and in light of current world events, I decided to further my interest in the subject. Working at the Red Cross and learning more about the work the organization does, felt like a perfect fit. I wanted to be a lawyer in order to help others and in an international setting. I hope the experience I gain at the Red Cross will help me in my future goals to provide legal assistance.
